I see that there are a lot of negative reviews on this high chair but I have found it to be the best out there. I have 3 children 3 and under and have had 4 high chairs so far and I finally broke down and got this one after difficulties with the others. We started with the Graco Harmony high chair which was sturdy but, people complain about this chair being tough to clean, they haven't had that seat. If you wanted it to look clean you had to un do all the straps and wash it in the washer. It was a pain and the pad started to look worn after 10 or so washes. Then we sold the Graco and bought the Safty First booster seat, the pad also wasnt wipeable, another mistake. And the third seat was the wooden Eddie Bauer booster seat, which I still have and do like for older kids.
I love love that the pad on this Chicco seat is wipeable! A time saver for moms on the go! It says not machine washable but I do machine wash it on gentle and air dry it and it looks great.
Now another issue that people have trouble with that isn't that big of a deal, are the small crevices in the tray and arm rests that food can get in to. All you need to remedy that is to use a tooth brush over it with some water real quick to get it out.
My mother in law had bought this seat for her house and my kids liked it so much that I finally bought it for my 3rd child. The pad is so thick and comfortable and my little boy loves it.
I like that the tray is large! My little 7 month old boy likes to play with his toys while I cook on there, and my 2 year old likes to color pictures while sitting in the seat. I can tell you from experience that a smaller tray is limiting and makes it tough for little ones to play with their toys.
A note about the compactability. I had thought that this seat was really compact and loved how well it fit against the wall when not in use. Then when I bought it I realized that it further compacted than what I had originally thought. The foot rest comes off and then the whole base folds into it self to be completely flat!
I have to add my kids have comfortably slept in this seat. The recline feature is perfect
Over all this is a quality, well built, attractive high chair that all three of my kids have enjoyed. I am so glad I bought one for my house finally.
